Stampede Bikes Fat Byke

Stampede Bikes Fat Byke

Our complete review is still in the works, but from day one, every boy in the neighborhood is in love with the bike.  Going over curbs and through snow banks is a amazingly easy on the fat bike.  With a longer top tube, the Fat Byke is pretty big for a 20″ as kids who normally ride 24″ fit just fine on it. Here’s our sneak peak:

• Shimano Tourney 7-sp (trigger shifters)
• 32 lb. Alloy Frame (tires are most of the weight)
• Mechanical front and rear disc brakes
• Designed for 6 to 8 year olds (tall 7-year-old shown on the bike below)

The image above on the left shows the difference between the fat bike footprint versus the Sprinter 20″.  The fat bike’s is much wider and deeper, making it more useable in snow.

Availability: The Fat Byke is available directly through Stampede Bikes (formally TykesBykes) with an MSRP of $489 and is currently on sale for $349. For a brief time, it is also available on Amazon.

A year later, would you recommend this kids fat tire bike for use in the snow?

        • For the price, absolutely. It is certainly a heavier bike for kids, so I wouldn’t recommend it for lightweight or hesitant kids.
