Glide Bikes are high quality bikes with excellent customer service and reviews. Their frame is solid and they come complete with a hand brake, footrest and a turning limiter. Glides bikes patented claim to fame is their peg footrest located under the bike. Unfortunately the footrest is one of the main concerns I have with their bikes. Toddlers and preschoolers simply don’t need a footrest, so placing one, albeit small, directly in the path of their running stride is not only a nuisance, but a safety hazard. To their credit however, in their newest models the foot rest is removable. The 2016 models have been upgraded from foam to air tires, which provide the traction and cushioning kids need to enjoy their ride.
Bottom Line: Great bikes, and the new air tires deliver needed traction and support for older riders. A point of concern it its peg footrest, which while loved by kids, could be a potential safety hazard. Luckily the peg is now removable, but the downward shaft is still exposed once the peg is removed, which is still a potential hazard during falls.
